Children with a special story

Children with a special story

  • Why children with a special story?

    Which sounds more positive?

    Kids with a special story?

I prefer that last one, these kids arent getting the credit they deserve in my opinion, especially if you take in mind what they already went threw in their short lives. Just look at them, really take your time and see them. They are great, funny, loving and capable of doing so much more then we notice...

  • What is my story?

In 2015 we had our third child, a daughter Inez. Shortly after the birth she turned blue and it didn't look good.

  • Nasal-gastric tube

Because our daughter was dealing with a nutritional problem and I can still see myself struggling with that feeding tube, I think afterwards, why wasn't there a more convenient solution for this? I literally taped everything with band-aids. However, this greatly limited her freedom of movement and started pulling on it, pulling that hose out again.

  • PEG probe

Working on this one , just a little bit more patience ...

  • Mickey button

Still working on this one to, please come back  soon to see what happened!

STICK-YOUR-BAG
Nice and original solution for Nasal-Gastroenterology

When children have nutritional problems and have to be tube fed, they have to deal with extra equipment in and around their body. Not always practical with dressing and moreover it is a hassle to get rid of the feeding tube in a good and fun way. Our youngest daughter had a nasogastric tube for the first two years of her life and I was now very adept at inserting it. Getting rid of the feeding tube was unfortunately a -not such a fun- challenge. As many parents and carers do, this is secured on the back of the romper or t'shirt with a band-aid. But that again limits the freedom of movement of turning the head ..... and then you have the rest of the hose ....... STICK-YOU-BAG is a simple solution that is fun for both your child and handy for you! I make an adjustment to existing or new clothing so that the feeding tube is no longer in the way and guarantees freedom of movement. In addition, there is a handy, cheerful bag that you can 'stick' to the back (Velcro or magnet) in which the feeding tube can be stored rolled up. These bags are available in all kinds of nice prints so that your child -or you- can choose what you feel like. Also handy for a quick exchange with another bag. Easy to wash and change by hand. Win-win right?

Challenge

Many children with a special story can benefit a lot when they are really looked at and attention is paid to their specific needs & desires with regard to clothing. I am inspired by them and see so many possibilities. Out-of-the-box and in my own way I translate this into a cheerful & simple solution in which that SPARKLE factor is so important. Because when you feel comfortable and beautiful, you radiate. And when you shine, you feel happy!

The Value of SPARKLE Special Wear

In my Atelier Ma Ravage I am developing a clothing line for children with a special story in collaboration with paediatricians, care providers, parents, children, special education and PGB'ers. Clothing for this group of children can and should become much more fun, convenient and accessible, right? I am convinced that, especially for this group of children, there is enormous added value to be gained when it comes to clothing. Clothes give you confidence and a feeling. A number of small adjustments also ensure that it just becomes much more practical with undressing and dressing. It could all be a little less medical and with a little more SPARKLE, because that's where the power of clothing lies! I like to be creative and design and make children's clothes. Primarily for my own children. I wanted to create what made them happy and what they needed. I get my inspiration for new ideas from the children themselves and from different fabrics, colours, prints, haberdashery, textures, styling, combining old & new. My strength lies in the original and artistic approach in which I combine handy solutions with an original style into a clothing item in which your child will shine! Sustainability of clothing is very important to me. The production of the clothing is not only very polluting for the environment, it is no longer of this time and therefore no longer fits into the future of our children. I embrace the circular clothing industry and build on this with my own clothing line SPARKLE Special Wear. I combine well-worn clothing with new (GOTS & OEKO-TEX) fabrics so that a unique clothing item is made. I also like to use fabrics and haberdashery left over from overproduction or recycling. The clothing items newly manufactured by me can be returned to circulation in the event of trade-in or resale - via SPARKLE Special Wear - so that these clothing can be worn by several children. The goal is that children can enjoy and wear their clothing item for as long as possible. I look at all possibilities so that certain clothing items can also be worn longer due to body growth, such as lengthening and enlarging.
